Top 5 Ideal Mashups in a Book Most of these will be fantasy combined with something . 1.     This is not two specific books, but specific genres: Historical Fiction and Fantasy.   I love both these genres and the idea of mixing them.   Now, I’m not talking about medieval fantasy, but a fantasy story set in some decade in 20 th century or 18 th or 19 th century history.   Like Magic during the American Revolution. 2.     Western and Fantasy .   I think this would be a fun combination.   Like incorporating fantasy in book set during 18 th or 19 th it would be unusual and a unique and would be fascinating to see how the world would be effected if magic had existed back then. 3.     Magical realism and hard-hitting issues .   I think this is a brilliant way to teach people about important societal issues.   It will make easier to understand it and puts less pressure on someone to consider our socie...

Another Top 5

Auto-Buy Science Fiction/Fantasy Authors 1.      Sarah J. Maas.   I love the Faery worlds she creates and her world building is amazing.   She creates great characters too and ones you’re not supposed to like are interesting too.   I don’t remember if Throne of Glass or A Court of Thorns and Roses came first.   I want to read Catwoman as well. 2.     Victoria/V.E. Schwab.   I’ve just started getting into this author, but she’s slowly becoming an Auto-buy author.   I love her writing style.   I hope to get This Savage Song soon.   A Darker Shade of Magic was the first one I read of hers and then Vicious.   I haven’t read her YA yet, but I want too. 3.     Marissa Meyer.   Just like Mrs. Schwab Meyer is still a bit new to me, but she’s also becoming an auto-buy author.   The Lunar Chronicles was the first of her books I fell for, and then I read Heartless.   I put Wires and...

Pirate Ship Book Tag

Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JObmMV2yyfE 1. Name your ship-- Pick a book title for your fearsome vessel?  Queen of Shadows.  Having trouble reading the book itself, but I think its a cool title. 2. Pick your flag-- Choose a creature or monster to put on your flag?  The sea serpent from Siege and Storm, the second book in The Grisha trilogy.  I admit its not my favorite series, but the different animals that Alina has to find are really cool. 3. The first mate--They're your second in command? Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.  She's smart, loyal, and brave. 4. The Navigator--There the character that guides your ship across the seas? Cress from The Lunar Chronicles.  Living in a satellite most of her life has allowed her to be good at reading the stars. 5. The raiding crew-- Choose two characters to raid ships and do the fighting for you? 1. Lilah Bard from Shades of Magic trilogy 2. Kvothe from The King Killer Chronicles.  Both...

Writing Update #3

Nothing much, but once I'm committing the bad habit of changing my idea and wanting to do something different.  I have a handful of ideas and I can't settle on one!  I have typed up a few blurbs that are beginnings of scenes, but sadly that's it.  I know its my own fault that I let myself get distracted, and I could fix it.

Writing Update #2

Sent my Power Point that is my outline and description of my synopsis to my friend Karen, who was the editor at the magazine I was writing book reviews for, to take a look at and help hold me accountable to my writing.

Top 5 Wednesday: Freebie

Top 5 Characters I Want to be Best Friends I decided for my Freebie to choose from one of the topic suggestions.   I don’t know if any of these characters would want to be friends with me Lol, but I like them and would love to be friends with them. 1.     Sansa Stark from The Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin.   I admit, at first, I didn’t like Sansa didn’t appreciate how she treated Arya, but as the story goes on I have come feel sorry for her and fall for her character.   She goes through so much hell and survives so much trauma, and she needs a friend she can trust.   She also needs a friend who genuinely wants to be that, a friend, and she’s a sweet person, despite her attitude in the beginning. 2.     I would just love to be part of this friend group: Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.   All these girls are really cool and would be fun to hang out with. 3. ...
