Galavant

I just finished watching the two seasons of Galavant from ABC Studios.  It was a cute, funny, exciting, sweet, adventurous story.  It tells the story of a noble knight by the name of Galavant, and who got rejected by his long time lady love, Magdalena, who chooses the rich King Richard, over Galavant.   Galavant is given a chance to win Magdalena back from Richard by helping Princess Isabella save her kingdom from Richard and Magdalena who invaded it.  Galavant, Isabella, and Galavant's squire, Sid, go on a quest, but it is revealed that Isabella is also doing this because Richard has threatened to kill her parents if she doesn't bring Galavant back to Valencia, her kingdom.  Along the way Isabella starts to fall in love with Galavant and Galavant learns he's a bit of an arrogant jerk that needs to be more humble.    Meanwhile Magdalena has realized Richard isn't as appealing as she thought and tries to ignore him.  Richard tries everything he can to win her over with

Lunar Chronicles Adaptation

I think The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer would make a great television series for a channel like Freeform or SyFy channel.  In case you don't know, its a four book series, with a prequel called Fairest, that's a futuristic retelling of the fairytales: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White.  There were two more world wars that lead to the world be divided into four different governments for all the Asian countries, European ones, United Kingdom,  and America, while some live on the moon.  The ones that live on moon have special powers where they can mind control, but not all Lunars can do it.  Those are called Shells.   The first book centers around Cinder a gifted mechanic living with her step family.  Prince Kai asks her secretly to fix his cyborg, because it has information about Luna's lost princess Selena, and Kai doesn't want to have to marry Luna's current tyrannical Queen Levenna.  Kai and Cinder also both want to stop a disea

Why I Love Kate Morton

I am doing two blogs tonight, because I want to post one that is a little more positive then the other one.  As you can tell by the title, this blog is going to be about one of my favorite authors, Kate Morton.   This one will be shorter than the other blogs.    Mrs. Morton is the author of The Secret Keeper, The House at Riverton (The Shifting Fog), The Forgotten Garden, The Distant Hours, and The Lake House, which is my current read.  All her books have a little bit of mystery from the past to solve, not like Sherlock Holmes style, but something tragic happened in the past and in the present, a character has to figure it out to help herself and heal the past.  They're also usually historical reads and I just love history, not that I will read a textbook for fun, but learning about the past through a person's story is always an exciting thing to explore.     Mrs. Morton's style and pros are so beautiful and fluid, and easy to read.  You have no problem picturing the s

Bookish Pet Peeves

Amnesia Plotlines--They are overdone and the easy way out of a plot problem.   If its a reset for a villain to be a good person or if its too protect a character, then that might be an exception.  Also if its about restoring someone's memory then its okay to me, though I still will not watch The Vow, because the family taking advantage of the woman having no memory upset me. Love Triangles--I won't not read a book/series if it has a love triangle, but they are so annoying and its a cliché, just like amnesia plot devices.  Its usually a girl being like "Oh, which attractive boy or man do I really want?  This is such a challenge.  OMG!"  Honey, do you know how lucky you are? Dog Earring--I use to do this, I admit, but now it just irritates me, and every time I see a page folded over I have to fix it, or try to fix it.  Of course, at the same time I try not to weird people out, so I won't do that to random people's books if I see them reading.  I also agree th

A Sad Realization

I love Harry Potter, I enjoyed Twilight, and Mortal Instruments as well as its spin-off Infernal Devices were awesome.  Unfortunately, once you grow as a reader and join the fandom world, the sad reality hits you:  these series have flaws and people love to criticize them.  I know most would find this stupid and silly for me to feel frustrated by, but the fact is I have very opinionated friends and I am a very insecure person, who does have a problem with letting others influence me.     When someone thoroughly and strongly shares their opinions I question my own opinions.  Yes, I know ignore them and don't let others influence me, but shockingly enough, its not easy for me to do so on a social network.  Social networks aren't just for socializing there also a place where you can share without coming face to face with anyone.  It's a place where your opinion is there for all to see and you can drill it in people's heads without the fear of them walking away. Maybe I&

Moving

This isn't about being a fangirl, but this is about what is going on in my personal life.  My parents and I (I have disabilities that make it a necessity for me to live with  my parents and not on my own.) are trying to mom to North Carolina, but two of our buyers had to back out at the last minute do to unforeseen circumstances.  I don't want to be disappointed for a third time, but I don't want to get my hopes either, because if we are disappointed again I don't know if I can handle it.  I have been waiting for this move ever since my parents said it was to going to happen.  I hate where I live and I have lived here my whole life.  I a need change. I need to be in an environment that's medium paced but still walkable, and I need to live in a state where people are nice to each other.  Also where we are moving the weather is perfect!  It still can get cold, but its mostly warm and hot.  I can't stand being cold and I concentrate even less, because I'm tryin

Patience is a Virtue I seem to Lack

How do you handle not taking on those who will end up causing you more stress than you need?  I  keep offering to help those who seem more sensitive than others, that have these issues, and then I end up regretting it because I can't handle it.  I have my own problems, which leads to what I think is the reason I help these people.  I can relate to them to some extent and I want to protect them.  I've been learning, though, that sometimes you gotta stand on your own two feet.  I like to think, personally, I'm doing that slowly, but I still have my problems.    This one girl (I say girl, even though she's a woman, because she acts like a girl.   She's a year or two older than me and I got the impression that she was younger!) drives me crazy and I'm trying to be patient, but its a struggle.  The best I am able to do is to ignore her, but if she ever say "I thought you had my back"  I might just suggest she unfriend me.  To be honest, it wouldn't

An Apprentice in Magic: Chapter Four

Chapter Four:             Rumple wrapped his cloak tightly around him trying to stifle the chill that surrounded him as he stood in the middle of this dank crypt, a place he didn’t understand his brother, Rasputin, found so comfortable.   Then again, Ras was always the more cold-blooded one out of the three of them.               “Ah, Rumple, my dear little brother,” Rasputin said enthusiastically, as he emerged from the shadows.   The sleeves of his robes dangled like shrouds off his arms as he approached his baby brother.   “I’m glad you have come to grace me your presence.”             “You summoned me Ras, I wasn’t going to turn down my older brother’s request to see me,” Rumple replied curtly.   “What is it you want?”             “Ah, well business first,” Rasputin stated, “Rothbart, is really the one who wishes to see you.”             “Really, why is that dearie?” Rumple questioned.             “Maybe he wants a family reunion,” Rasputin replied, shrugging

Becoming a Better Reader

I have recently come to the unfortunate conclusion that I watch more than read, and to me this is shameful.  Not that screen adaptations are bad, sometimes they're better, but I feel that for someone who claims to be an avid reader I don't really fully take in what I am reading.  Even with Harry Potter I feel guilty for not being able to remember details, and why the books are so much more than the movies.  People keep saying that in Cursed Child the characters are written to behave more like the movie versions, especially Ron, and if hadn't reread the books recently, I wouldn't be able to fairly say if I agree or disagree.     So, to solve my dilemma I have started making TBR (To be Read) lists, including a separate one for classics.  I think this should help.  I have also been watching Booktuber videos, which are really cool for book/Lit nerds like me.  Of course, it doesn't help that we're in a sort of limbo with our move, and most of my books are in stor
