Brief Review of the new Doctor Who

Since it was around Christmas time when family was visiting us I was unable to watch the newest episodes of these two shows Doctor Who and The Librarians, but I finally watched both today on onDemand.  Here is my review of The Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Doctor Who takes a look at the superhero storyline in science fiction, and puts a spin on it.  The story takes place after the 24 years he was on Delirium with River, just thinking about it makes me sad, and goes back and forth between the other protagonists childhood and his present life.  The Doctor meets a little boy, Grant,  the other protagonist, who likes comics, while saving Earth, and the boy accidentally swallows this stone of the Doctor's that gives him super powers.  As an adult, Grant becomes a superhero, but on the side he is a Nanny for a woman, whom  he went to school with and had a crush on. She had a baby with his college roommate, but Grant's roommate abandoned's her and the baby, so Grant volunteers to be her live-in Nanny.
The Doctor is trying to stop an alien invasion of Brains.  That's right, I said Brains!  The aliens intend to take over the mind's of political figures, but of course that's not so easy.   The Doctor must figure out what these aliens plans are before its too late.  Meanwhile, Grant struggles with keeping his secret from his crush, taking care of her baby, and being a superhero.   Can Grant and The Doctor stop these aliens?
This was a fun episode, but not my favorite.  Not that there was anything wrong with the episode, but I'm very picky when it comes to the superhero sub genre of Science Fiction.  The episode parodied the Superman/Clark Kent story and his relationship with Lois Lane.  Such as the glasses thing and how Lois is a reporter trying to figure out who Superman is, while taking her "nerdy" male friend for granted.  An actor from Smallville, teen Clark's best friend, plays a villain in this episode, which is really cool to see.  Overall, it was a very cute entertaining episode, and very funny.
